Baldwin DS4-4-1000(NA) & DS4-4-1000(SC)

"The DS4-4-1000, with the 608NA engine wasn't much more than a glorified VO1000.
The locomotive's frame was changed from a General Steel Casting one-piece cast frame
to a Baldwin fabricated frame, and the diesel engine cylinder heads were changed from
a 2-valve head to a 4-valved head (some change in fuel injection equipment, too), but
otherwise the 608NA locomotives were still VO's electrically. The radiator nose was
changed from V-taper to flat front, but the rest of the cooling system had no change
between the end of 1946 (VO1000) and the model change (DS4-4-1000)."
    - Tom Lawson

Note: The DS4-4-1000 with the 606SC engine is sometimes referred to as an S10 model.
