A 2000 hp passenger diesel designed during the war but not built, due to war time restrictions,
until 1945. Powered by twin 8 cylinder VO engines. Two demonstrators, #2000 & 2001 were built, #2001 (shown below)
differed from #2000 by lacking externally mounted air intake shutters.
The units were demonstrated on US railroads then sold to Ferrocarriles Nacionales De Mexico.
NdeM ordered one more unit (#6002) built in 1946. These were the last VO powered units produced. |

The following is a copy of the original shop drawing obtained from the Pennsylvania State Archives.
The original is over 10 feet long and curled due years of being rolled up.
