Rostered and Orphaned Baldwins

In 1976 Conrail assigned road numbers to 31 acquired Baldwin diesels. Apparently at least one or two
of the ex RDG units were "accidentally" painted CR blue, no logos, just "Conrail or CR" and the number.
Other Baldwins, acquired as part of the assets of the railroads that were merged to form Conrail
and not assigned numbers became orphans. By 1978 all the "true" Baldwins were gone from the roster.


A few of the EMD repowered RDG units, refered to as an SW1200M on Conrail rosters, lasted until 1982.
