Birmingham Southern

In 1984 the Birmingham Southern (then owned by US Steel) inherited its Baldwins from the
US Steel Tennessee Coal & Iron Divison in Birmingham AL when it shut down its transportation
unit which had switched the Fairfield Works. The ex.TCI&RR units were labed with an "X" meaning
that they were not to be used off site. [5]
