EMD SW1001

    Data

    The SW1001 combines the SW1200 frame, cab and steps with
    the SW1000 engine and hood. Compare with the SW1000, note
    the frame height, steps and that the pilot plates on the SW1001 rise
    above the porch. The benefits of this design are that;
    -the SW1001 will clear the same building access ways as the SW1200,
    the SW1000 is taller, see this SW1200-SW1000 pair.
    -spare parts standardization for roads which have SW1200 and
    earlier EMD model switcher rosters.
