Montreal Locomotive Works

    In 1904 the American Locomotive Company bought control of the
    21-year old Locomotive & Machine Company of Montreal, Ltd. and
    later changed the name to the Montreal Locomotive Works, Ltd.
    MLW as the Canadian subsidiary of Alco produced Alco designs and
    its own variants for the Canadian market. In 1969 Alco terminated
    domestic locomotive production and sold the locomotive designs
    to MLW which continued production until 1984.
