"LS&BC 8 sat at Blue Island, IL on the CRL after the LS&BC shut down the Central IL line, and then I saw it being moved by Chicago Rail Link SW1500's to the SCA Yard at Lake Calumet. From there I thought it might become scrap but apparently they breathed new life into the old girl, and used it until they got the SW8 (MM2) from Amtrak and the 8 disappeared...probably cut up in the very yard she had switched." - John Eagan

9 VO1000 c/n 71525, b/d 09/1945 - built as US Navy #36, renumbered 65-00203 - to LaSalle & Bureau County as #9 in 1965 - painted purple by the LS&BC in Sept 1981 - to Chrome Crankshaft in 1981 - to TTI as #9 in 1981 - stored Paris, KY. last report 2004

202 VO1000 c/n 64260, b/d 12/1941 - built for Frisco as #202 - repowered by EMD, 1957 - to Chrome Crankshaft, 1980 - to LS&BC, returned to Chrome Crankshaft - to USN as 65-00368(2nd), last reported to be still in service
