From 1940 to 1953 ALCO and GE jointly marketed diesel locomotives.
    In 1955 the American Locomotive Company changed its name to
    Alco Products Inc. to emphasize the diversification of products
    manufactured. In 1969 Alco terminated domestic locomotive production
    and sold the locomotive designs to the Montreal Locomotive Works which
    Alco had bought control of in 1904.
